A moment of madness, perhaps taken by the anger of the moment or by the adrenaline raised by the fight that broke out shortly before in his market. A merchant from San Gennaro Vesuviano was arrested for having injured a carabinieri in the hand.
It happened yesterday evening in the Vesuvian town. A 20-year-old Bangladeshi, a grocery store owner who had been in Italy for years, stabbed a carabiniere from the local station in the hand for no reason.
The military had rushed to the scene following a report of a fight in the shop on Via Roma.
When the owner of the business saw the soldiers enter the shop, for no apparent reason but obviously agitated, he pulled out a knife and hit one of the soldiers in the hand.
The man was arrested and is now under house arrest, awaiting trial: he is accused of resisting a public official and causing personal injury. The injured carabiniere received a 7-day prognosis. The reasons for the reaction are still unknown.
