Citizens of the northern suburbs of Naples terrified by a robbery that took place in broad daylight, at 13:00, in via Roma towards ScampiaA man returning home in his car was the victim of a brutal attack by a robber riding a scooter.
Surveillance camera footage captures the horrific episode: the scooter pulls up alongside the car, parked waiting for the gate to open. With a lightning-fast leap, the criminal dismounts, smashes the window with the butt of his gun, and points it at the victim's temple. Terrified, the man hands over the money, and the robber flees.
"We are under siege!" - denounces the member of the Green Left Alliance, Francesco Emilio Borrelli, who received the video from some citizens. "It's a Wild West climate," he continues. "There's no respite for decent citizens, neither in the suburbs nor in the city center. The victim was lucky not to lose his life. Decisive and relentless action by the state is needed to eradicate this rampant crime."
Borrelli calls for a radical and profound intervention to guarantee the safety of citizens. "Constant and widespread operations are necessary to regain control of the territory and put an end to the violence gripping Naples."
