The Carabinieri of Marano and the financial police of the Giugliano in Campania Group have seized sums of money believed to be the proceeds of an alleged fraud against the Municipality of villaricca.
The story concerns the works of redevelopment of the road artery "II Traversa via Palermo", which according to the Public Prosecutor's Office Napoli North would not have been carried out properly and would not have achieved the objective of securing the road after a subsoil collapse caused by the presence of a quarry.
Following the notices of investigation served on five people including entrepreneurs, professionals and officials of the Municipality, the Public Prosecutor's Office, led by Maria Antonietta Troncone, ordered the seizure of the sums paid by the Municipality to the company that carried out the works.
The investigations hypothesize that the company used unsuitable materials and produced a certificate of regular execution of the works containing false attestations on the works carried out.
The collapse of the road, which occurred on October 30, 2022, caused the opening of a sinkhole and the subsequent evacuation of a building, whose residents are still out of their homes.
The seizure operation represents an important step in the investigations aimed at shedding light on the affair and ascertaining any responsibilities.
