“Creating by Imagining,” the national exhibition of the Art&Science Across Italy project, will open tomorrow, May 3, at 11 a.m. at the MANN – National Archaeological Museum of Naples.
This is the final exhibition of the 2022-2024 edition of the INFN and CERN project, with this edition's partner, the University of Naples Federico II, dedicated to high school students.
The exhibition, organized by INFN in collaboration with the University of Naples Federico II and the MANN, will be open until Monday, May 13th and features 96 scientifically inspired artworks created by 280 students from across Italy, selected from the over 1300 works created by more than 7100 students who participated in the project.
The inauguration will be attended by INFN researchers leading the project, as well as students from across Italy. The project's closing event will take place in the afternoon, starting at 3:00 PM, at the Teatro Acacia in Naples. The winners of the Naples stage will be announced, followed by the announcement of the 54 winners of the national competition, who will receive scholarships for a master's degree in art and science at CERN in Geneva or the INFN Gran Sasso National Laboratories. Following the awards ceremony, the lecture-performance "The Universe in a Wingbeat. Images of Art and Science" by researchers Valentina Mariani and Pierluigi Paolucci will present the history of the universe through voices, music, art, and literature, starting at 5:00 PM. The music will be provided by the Banda dell'Uku, and the reading will be by Bianca Mastromonaco.
