What happened during the night to the deputy of the Green-Left alliance Francesco Emilio Borelli in Tavernanova, between Casalnuovo and Pomigliano d'Arco, is incredible. The parliamentarian, together with the journalist Pino Grazioli, was carrying out an inspection to show and denounce the uncivilized situation of some uncivilized people who daily consume food and drinks from McDonald's and then throw food, containers and paper, wrappers, glasses and plastic containers in the parking lot of the car wash next to the place.
At a certain point, when the parking area began to fill up with children and older youths, the atmosphere became tense. Some individuals addressed insults and threats to Borrelli and the escort. Two boys on scooters covered by hoods even approached shouting. “We’ll shoot you twice in the legs.”
In the meantime, other young people arrived in cars at full speed, skidding in the parking lot, and began to threaten Borrelli. The escort men called for reinforcements, but in the meantime they assessed the dangerousness of the situation and decided to move away. Both the officers' car and Grazioli's car were, however, chased by cars and scooters for a long stretch by a group of individuals whose aim was to intimidate and cause damage.
“Outside McDonald's, in any area unfortunately, the rate of incivility is very high and what happened tonight shows what kind of people frequent certain places. They hurled insults and threats at us when they were not in the frame and then denied everything when we asked for explanations. Fights and stabbings are the order of the day. The air became very tense when two guys on motorbikes without helmets threatened to shoot me”, commented Borrelli.
"Given the dangerousness of the situation, since at a certain point we were literally surrounded by threatening individuals who fear nothing since they also chased us. In the incredible chase a scooter and two cars tried to come alongside us and hit Pino Grazioli's car with a blunt object trying to make it go off the road. It was an absurd evening that shows how much more controls are needed in these places and how certain kids feel like they own entire areas considering themselves untouchable".
"Aside from the McDonald's situation, we live in an area where crime and violence are taking away space from legality and security. If they think they have intimidated me, they are very wrong since I immediately asked for frontal interventions to clean up the area and I will return shortly. We cannot allow these criminals to make the locals and those who want to spend an evening of leisure live in terror".
