The safe hidden in the wall contained not money but cocaine. The Carabinieri of the Caivano Company discovered it yesterday afternoon when they carried out a series of checks and searches as part of an operation against organized crime.
The blitz led to the seizure of approximately 300 grams of cocaine. The drugs, divided into 6 vacuum-packed packages, were found in an abandoned building in Cairoli Street. The Carabinieri also seized the packaging material and a home-made safe that was located in a trapdoor built specifically for this purpose.
The military, long engaged in combating drug dealing and arms trafficking, combed the city and discovered a veritable "system" hidden within the walls of the buildings.

The criminals used sophisticated alarm systems and CCTV cameras to protect their illicit trades. In some cases, they even created underground hideouts or used mailboxes with double bottom to hide drugs and weapons.
Not only that, in some public areas, the military discovered that elevator shafts and flowerbeds had been transformed into real laboratories for illegal construction.
The operation demonstrates the Carabinieri's ongoing commitment to fighting organized crime in Caivano. Investigations continue to identify those responsible and completely dismantle the "system" uncovered yesterday.
