The Carabinieri, during an intervention for a fire that occurred in the ASI area of Calvi Risorta, have made an incredible discovery. What initially seemed to be a simple fire extinguishing in an industrial warehouse, turned out to be much more.

After about five hours of operations to put out the flames, the police identified the cause of the fire: the deflagration of gunpowder, presumably used for the illegal production of fireworks.

Inside the rooms adjacent to those that were set on fire, they were found 2400 boxes of fireworks known as “Super Cobra 6”, illegally manufactured and of category F4, intended only for qualified persons.

The Carabinieri have seized over 360.000 firecrackers, whose total weight exceeded 1000 kg of detonating substance and whose commercial value has been estimated at almost 4 million euros.

This considerable quantity of explosive material was entrusted to a specialized pyrotechnic company. The industry and the warehouse involved in the fire are now under seizure and investigations are underway to identify those responsible for the manufacture and possession of the illegal firecrackers.
