Historical memory and civil commitment: the theatrical show entitled “Capaci… di ricorda” will develop along these two important ethical and moral lines, recalling the place where the mafia massacre took place on 23 May 1992, resulting in the killing of magistrates Giovanni Falcone and Francesca Morvillo, and of the escort agents Vito Schifani, Rocco Dicillo and Antonio Montinaro. It will be staged by the students of classes 3ALM, 3DSA and 3G of the “Pasquale Stanislao Mancini” Scientific High School, led by the school principal Paola Anna Gianfelice.
The appointment is scheduled for Saturday, May 18, 2024, starting at 17.30:XNUMX p.m., at the Teatro d'Europa in Cesinali. This is the conclusion of an exciting and complex educational path regarding a "Civil Theater Laboratory" of a PCTO - former school-work alternation, coordinated by the Literature teachers Elisa Troisi, Ilaria Stasio and Margherita Faia. This project is included in the school program of the Mancini High School, whose PCTO referents are the teachers Gilda Guerriero, Alfonso Pepe and Anna Ferrigno.
The direction and the scenes are curated by Luigi Frasca and Angela Caterina, respectively artistic director and first actress of the company “Teatro d'Europa”.
The central theme of the show is the value of "legality" and the theatrical text, written by the students themselves, is based on careful research of sources, testimonies, texts, ideas and actions regarding women and men who have fought against organized crime without hesitation, such as Giovanni Falcone himself, Paolo Borsellino, Don Peppino Puglisi, Peppino Impastato and Rita Atria. Examples and messages that have enthralled the young students, who will consciously be the custodians and heirs of those values of justice and legality that have marked the existence and sacrifice of those who have opposed the arrogance and violence of all mafias.
The third-year students of the Mancini High School involved in the theatre project, in addition to playing the various characters and carrying out multiple technical roles, have also set up a functional reception service that will be active during the event and a dynamic press office that has been responsible for promoting the initiative through all media channels.
