New chapter in the electoral story of Casola, a small town in the Lattari Mountains. The Regional Administrative Court of Campania has accepted the appeal of Domenico Peccerillo, leader of the list “Casola in Positive”, excluded from the race for the municipal elections following a complaint filed by Alfredo Rosalba, the other mayoral candidate.
Peccerillo had been excluded due to alleged irregularities in some of his list's documents. Electoral Subcommittee of Gragnano had confirmed the exclusion, but the TAR established that the decision had been made out of time.
According to the administrative judges, the "presentation" phase of the lists was already concluded when the alleged irregularities were found. Therefore, the exclusion of Peccerillo was no longer possible.
The TAR's decision puts Peccerillo back in the game, who is back in the running for mayor against Rosalba. The electoral challenge, initially compromised by Peccerillo's exclusion, can therefore take place.
There should be no need to postpone the elections, since the TAR decision came in good time. The electoral campaign will finally be able to get into full swing, after the appeals and controversies of the last few weeks.
The TAR's decision was welcomed with satisfaction by Peccerillo and his supporters. “I am glad that justice has taken its course,” Peccerillo declared. “Now we can finally confront the voters and present them with our program for Cottage."
Rosalba also commented on the TAR's decision. “I respect the TAR’s decision,” he said. “I am ready to confront Peccerillo and make my ideas prevail for the future of Casola.”
The electoral challenge in Casola is therefore expected to be very hard-fought. Both candidates are determined to win and lead the country for the next five years.
