Carmine Caputo (food milling industry) and Aquilino Carlo Villano (aerospace industry) are the two knights of labor of Campania appointed by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella.
Caputo, 75 years old, has been since 1983 President of Antimo Caputo, a family business founded in 1924 as mill and today active in the production of flour for high-quality Italian artisan gastronomy.
Under his leadership, the company has expanded its reference markets from the Campania region to a national dimension, expanding abroad to over 100 countries, where it generates approximately 50% of its turnover.
Currently, Antimo Caputo works with three establishmentsi: that historic Napoli, the mill of Campobasso, acquired in 2011, and the plant of Bergamo, dedicated to gluten-free products. It has a grinding capacity of 700 tons per day and employs approximately 80 people.
Villain, 83 years old, is the founder, president and CEO of Irpine Mechanical Workshops, a company active in the production of components for the aerospace, defense and automotive sectors.
He developed the company by starting supply relationships with operators such as Selenia and Alenia, focusing on the high specialization of production. Today, Officine Meccaniche Irpine collaborates with Leonardo, Airbus, Boeing and Lockheed Martin, supplying some components of the F-35 fifth-generation multirole fighter.
In 2022, it carried out research and development projects for approximately 3 million euros. The company operates with three plants in the Avellino area, on a total production area of over 20.000 square meters, and employs approximately 110 highly specialized employees.
