Violent clashes broke out overnight in Mondragone, in the province of Caserta, between Bulgarian citizens. The fights, which took place with stones, clubs and wooden planks, transformed the city center into a theater of urban guerrilla warfare.
The one to report the incident was the deputy of the Green Left Alliance Francesco Emilio Borrelli, who shared a video on social media showing the ferocity of the clashes.
The causes of the brawl are yet to be ascertained, but the images show the brutality of the clashes, which involved dozens of people and spread terror among the residents.
Borrelli expressed his strong condemnation for what happened, calling it “a terrible scene” and “yet another proof of the violence that is spreading in our territory”.
The parliamentarian urged the intervention of the mayor of Mondragone and the prefect of Caserta, asking for the establishment of a roundtable for public safety and hoping for the identification and denunciation of those responsible.
The episode was defined as “unacceptable” by Borrelli, who announced his intention to bring the matter to the attention of the Minister of the Interior, reminding him of the promise of a greater number of agents on the territory.
