Via Ponte della Maddalena is in total degradation. A hundred meters from a school and the labor inspectorate there is a new settlement of homeless, the same ones evicted from the former fish market.
An unspecified number of homeless people live in an open-air landfill. Residents alarmed by the growing degradation have sent images to the deputy of the Green Alliance – Left Francesco Emilio Borrelli and report continuous fights between migrants, some even armed with machetes to defend themselves.
Carjackings on the rise at traffic lights. Some of them hang out at the entrances of apartment buildings and often sneak into buildings looking for anything they can take.
"The scenes captured in the videos testify to an inhuman and despicable condition that must be resolved once and for all, both for the residents who suffer it and for the homeless themselves," Borrelli commented. "The residents do not deserve to live in degradation and terror," the deputy added, "and we must give dignity to the homeless. We are at a point of no return, it is not enough to periodically clear the area where they camp, they will certainly find another where they can survive to the limits of human possibility.
Many are very young and deserve another opportunity and a civilized country cannot shirk this task. At the same time, we must guarantee the safety of residents and students of surrounding schools who have the right to practice these places without fear of being involved in fights or attacks". This was stated by Francesco Emilio Borrelli, deputy of Alleanza Verdi – Sinistra who received the images of residents.
