A 29-year-old man from Naples turned himself in to law enforcement this morning, confessing to being the hit-and-run driver who hit and killed Sara Romano, a 21-year-old woman, in the Cavalleggeri neighborhood at dawn this morning.
The victim, who was returning home from a night out at the disco with friends, was hit and killed while crossing the street. The man, who was driving a rental car, fled immediately after the accident.
The Carabinieri in Bagnoli , using surveillance camera footage, were able to trace the car's license plate and the rental company where it was rented. They then identified the alleged perpetrator, but he was not home this morning.
The victim's parents, tracked down by the Carabinieri, contacted the 29-year-old, who, on their advice and that of the military, decided to turn himself in.
