Starting from August 28, Rai will start broadcasting some channels using the new Dvb-t2 standard, marking the first step towards a new generation digital terrestrial transmission system. This change aims to improve the quality of broadcasts and increase the number of available channels. In the coming months, all channels of the DTT will be gradually transferred to this new system, although the date of the complete transition has not yet been defined.

For viewers, the first step will be to check whether their television is compatible with the new broadcast standard. To do so, simply tune to digital terrestrial channel 558, where Rai Sport is broadcast. If the channel is visible, the device is already ready to receive the new signal. Otherwise, you will need to purchase a decoder or replace your television.

However, many areas of Italy, such as mountain communities, some coastal areas, and the islands, still struggle to receive the "old" digital terrestrial signal. These areas cannot compensate for the problem of obsolete antennas with broadband. For those living in these areas and those who want to prepare for future changes, the best solution is to get a satellite dish and tune into the free tivùsat satellite platform.

Viewers who choose tivùsat won't have to change anything and will continue to receive over 130 channels, including all the major Italian operators (Rai, Mediaset, La7), with a quality that terrestrial television can't match, from high definition to 4K. This quality will be particularly appreciated during events like this summer's European Football Championship. Installation requires only a satellite dish, a decoder (or a CAM), and a smart card. All this without any additional monthly fees or having to worry about any new switch-offs.
