A dramatic story occurred in Monterusciello, a hamlet of Pozzuoli, where a family found themselves evicted from their home by squatters.
The three members, father, mother and daughter, had temporarily moved away to Lombardy for health reasons. Upon their return, they found the apartment occupied by two women and a young girl who, taking advantage of their absence, had forced the lock and entered the building.
The family, legitimate assignee of the public housing, found itself homeless and forced to sleep on the streets or with relatives. Faced with this unacceptable situation, Avs deputy Francesco Emilio Borrelli intervened forcefully, calling for the immediate eviction of the illegal occupants.
“They broke the lock while we were away on medical leave and got in,” the family told Congressman Borrelli. “We’ve lived here practically forever,” they added, “and they knew exactly where to strike. Someone must have helped them, since they did an expert job of breaking the lock.”
Borrelli, together with the city councilors of Europa Verde Enzo Pafundi and Gennaro Andreozzi and the councilor Titti Zazzaro, went to the place to support the family and to speed up the eviction procedures. “Obviously,” declared the parliamentarian, “we have already requested the intervention for the eviction both from the municipality and from the prosecutor's office, since a formal complaint has been filed. We cannot allow certain individuals to take advantage of the difficulties of others to illegally occupy homes. Those who need a roof must turn to the institutions and not act with arrogance.”
Borrelli assured his full commitment to resolving the matter and restoring legality. “We will not stop,” he said, “we will continue to fight against those who take away the homes of honest people. The guilty will not get away with it.”
