“Clan – Choose your destiny” is coming to RaiPlay, a new Rai Kids series that tells the story of Francesco, a 15-year-old boy who lives in Scampia and fights to escape the fate sealed by organized crime.
Francesco was born and raised in a difficult context: his father is a fugitive, his mother is rarely present and his older brother is involved in the Camorra. It seems that his life is already written, but a chance encounter offers him a chance for redemption.
Francesco enters the judo gym of the master Maddaloni, where he learns discipline, respect and the importance of friendship. He meets a group of boys who become his new family and help him stay away from bad circles.
The series, in 10 episodes of 25 minutes, is based on the novel “O' Maé – Storia di judo e di camorra” by Luigi Garlando and is inspired by the true story of Gianni Maddaloni's gym in Scampia. Judo becomes a metaphor for life for Francesco: it helps him face difficulties, believe in himself and choose the right path.
A cast of young talents
“Clan – Choose Your Destiny” stars a cast of young talents, including Maikol De Falco (Francesco), Elisa Del Genio (Ginevra), Francesco Ferrante, Gabriele Rizzoli, Luca Ambrosino and Giorgia Agata. Directed by Francesco Amato.
A message of hope
The series is a message of hope for all the kids who live in difficult contexts. It shows that it is possible to change course and build a better future, thanks to friendship, sports and willpower.
“Clan – Choose your destiny” is also a commitment against the Camorra and organized crime. The series wants to raise awareness on this important issue and invite young people to reflect on the dangers of the underworld.
