The 29-year-old man has been arrested and charged with aggravated vehicular homicide by fleeing the scene after hitting and killing a 21-year-old woman in Naples this morning.
The victim, Sara Romano, was returning home from an evening out with friends when she was hit by an SUV on Via Cattolica, between Coroglio and Via Cavalleggeri.
The man, who rented the SUV, turned himself in to law enforcement after being identified by surveillance cameras. He is married, has two children, and was contacted by his parents and the Carabinieri before turning himself in. Investigators are awaiting the results of the drug test and alcohol test the 29-year-old underwent.

The accident occurred just hours after another 27-year-old woman was seriously injured in a similar road accident in Fuorigrotta. The woman was hit by a car while crossing the street and is now in critical condition in hospital. The driver of the car, a 24-year-old, fled the scene after the accident but was later tracked down by the municipal police.
Both incidents have caused outrage among the local community, which has called for greater road safety. Authorities are investigating the incidents and are awaiting the results of drug tests for both drivers.
