Udinese has been hit by some bad news ahead of the end of the football season. Goalkeeper Marco Silvestri, who was already absent from the last away match in Bologna due to the flu, has suffered an injury that will keep him out of action for the rest of the season, now in its final stages.
The Friulian club announced that during a training session Silvestri reported “a myofascial distractive contusive lesion of the medial gemellus of the left leg.” This injury requires further investigation to assess its extent and recovery time, but with only four rounds and 20 days left until the end of the championship, there will not be enough time for him to return to the field.
Before his injury, there was speculation that Silvestri would feature in the home game against Napoli, with rumours suggesting he could be a contender for the starting spot against Okoye, especially after a mistake in the game against Bologna. However, the German goalkeeper of Nigerian origin will retain his position between the posts, with Padelli taking up the role of second goalkeeper.
