Carabiniere injured in Afragola during a robbery: hit in the head with the butt of the gun.

An off-duty carabiniere was wounded in the head this morning in Afragola, in the province of Naples, during an attempted bank robbery.

The incident occurred around 10:00 a.m. at a bank branch, where the soldier intervened to defend a woman who was being attacked by some criminals.

The carabiniere, despite not being on duty, did not hesitate to intervene to help the lady. During the fight, he was hit in the back of the head, presumably with the butt of the gun, by one of the robbers. The criminals, after having carried out the robbery, fled.

The carabiniere received 10 stitches to his head

The injured Carabiniere was transported to Frattamaggiore Hospital, where he received ten stitches to his scalp. His condition is not serious, and he was discharged after initial treatment.

Several patrols of the Carabinieri intervened on the spot for the investigations of the case. The military are viewing the images of the surveillance cameras of the area and are acquiring the testimonies of those present to try to identify those responsible for the rapina and of the attack on the policeman.

The incident has caused dismay and concern in the Afragola community. The municipal administration expressed solidarity with the injured Carabiniere and expressed the hope that those responsible will be brought to justice as soon as possible.

Once again, a law enforcement officer has been injured in the line of duty. And it's not the first time the Naples news has reported such incidents.

This is an unacceptable act of violence that must be firmly condemned. The commitment of law enforcement to ensuring the safety of citizens is essential and must be strongly supported by the entire community.
