The 29rd edition of the "Brividi d'Estate" festival kicks off June 23th, featuring artists and theater companies performing in the enchanting setting of the Royal Botanical Garden of Naples. This edition will open with "Il canto del mare," a new opera by Maurizio De Giovanni, known for his combination of myth, history, and poetic narrative.
The inauguration of the festival
The festival will open on Saturday, June 29th at 21:XNUMX PM with "Il canto del mare" by Maurizio De Giovanni, a reinterpretation of Andrea Camilleri's "Maruzza Musumeci." Joined on stage by Rosaria De Cicco, Paolo Cresta, Marianita Carfora, Giacinto Piracci, and Enzo Grimaldi, De Giovanni will pay homage to the great Italian storyteller. The story intertwines myth and reality, offering spectators a tale as poetic and unpredictable as the sea.
Programming and news
The "Brividi d'Estate 2024" festival, dedicated to dreams, is conceived by Annamaria Russo and organized by Pozzo e il Pendolo Teatro. In collaboration with the Federico II University and with the patronage of the City of Naples, the festival will feature twelve shows, including new releases and classics. The program includes "Lighea" by Giuseppe Tomasi da Lampedusa on June 30th and "Migliore" by Mattia Torre with Nico Ciliberti on July 4th.
Murderous dinners
"Murder Mystery Dinner," a murder mystery imported from Great Britain, begins on Friday, July 5th. This three-hour game show will engage the audience, as they investigate and unmask a diabolical killer. Further "Murder Mystery Dinner" performances are scheduled for July 19th and 26th, and August 2nd.
A theatre surrounded by greenery
For approximately forty days, until August 4th, the Royal Botanical Garden will be transformed into a theater immersed in nature. Other scheduled events include Madelin Miller's "Circe" on July 6th and 7th, "A te, Masaniello" on July 11th and 12th, Alessandro Baricco's "Smith and Wesson" on July 13th and 14th, Erri de Luca's "Tu, mio" on July 18th, and Erri De Luca's "L'ultimo viaggio di Sindbad" on July 20th and 21st.
Final events
The festival will conclude with Herman Melville's "Moby Dick" on July 25, followed by "The Little Prince," "The Night of Magical Tales," and "One Hundred Years of Solitude." Artistic director Annamaria Russo stated that this edition is dedicated to "old-fashioned" dreams and good feelings, recalling that theater is also an act of faith in the reckless.
