Alessandra Celentano guest of honor
On Thursday, June 20 (21 pm - Piazza Flavio Gioia), Alessandra Celentano, a classical dance teacher and choreographer on Maria De Filippi's television program "Amici" for over twenty years and author of the book "Chiamatemi maestra" (Mondadori), will retrace, with the honesty that distinguishes her, the important moments of her personal and professional history.
Celentano's teaching philosophy
“I have always tried to encourage kids to improve themselves with severity, honesty and respect, without filters. My sincerity cost me the incomprehension of many people, but the love I have for this art and the affection of those who understood why I am the way I am and why I say what I say has always prevailed. Bitch and bad for many, direct and coherent for others, I believe that those who have this book in their hands are part of the second category, that of those who have tried to understand me but above all those who want to learn and know. If frankness, discipline, the truth, even if harsh, is mistaken for malice, I'm sorry but that's not the case: I am simply a serious professional and I have never tolerated false do-goodism because it is dishonest and harmful."
A life and professional path of great prestige
Alessandra Celentano talks about herself and opens the doors to a part of herself that she has never revealed to anyone, the one far from the spotlight: a person who has always questioned herself, who has always tried to improve herself, who has made her dreams come true, sometimes suffering, sometimes just dancing.
Alessandra Celentano began studying dance with internationally renowned teachers, until she perfected her skills at the Budapest State Opera. She attended and then taught at the Professional Dance Specialization Course in Reggio Emilia and in the mid-80s she joined the Aterballetto directed by Amedeo Amodio, where she played roles as a prima ballerina for some of the greatest choreographers of the twentieth century (Ailey, Balanchine, Forsythe, Tetley, Childs and others) and danced alongside great interpreters of the world of dance (E. Terabust, A. Ferri, M. Loudières, G. Iancu, A. Molin, V. Derevianko, J. Bocca). During her time at Aterballetto she had the opportunity to meet Gheorghe Iancu, with whom she began a collaboration that would lead her to work with him as a dancer and choreography assistant. In the following years, he was ballet master in the major theaters in Italy: Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Teatro dell'Opera in Rome, Teatro Comunale in Florence and Teatro San Carlo in Naples. Guest teacher in international theaters, he worked alongside great names in dance such as Carla Fracci, Roberto Bolle, Massimo Murru, Isabelle Guérin, Manuel Legris and others. He was the artistic director of the show “Anbeta e Josè”, in which dancers from the major companies worldwide took part, and choreographer for the exhibition gala of the world skating championships and various other prestigious events in collaboration with Pietro Del Vaglio, Anbeta Toromani, Amilcar Moret Gonzalez, Luca Longobardi.
