Five attempted scams targeting elderly people were foiled by Carabinieri officers from the Avellino Provincial Command in various towns in the Calore Valley. Once again, the criminals attempted to use the now-familiar "fake relative in trouble" technique, but the alertness of the potential victims and the swift intervention of law enforcement foiled the scheme.
The calls came to the homes of elderly residents in Venticano, Pietradefusi, and Montefusco.
