The centre-left won a landslide in the municipalities of the province of Naples where voting was held yesterday and today for the second round.
In addition to Torre Annunziata, where Democratic Party candidate Corrado Cuccurullo prevailed, progressive forces also achieved success in San Giuseppe Vesuviano, Sant'Antimo, and Grumo Nevano.
In San Giuseppe Vesuviano, a municipality that, like Torre Annunziata, had been under a long administration after being dissolved due to Camorra infiltration, Michele Sepe, representing the Democratic Party and the Five Star Movement among others, prevailed, obtaining 5% of the vote, surpassing center-right representative Tommaso Andreoli, who stopped at 56,08%.
In Sant'Antimo, Massimo Buonanno, candidate for mayor for the PD and four other lists, got over 60% (60,46 to be exact), beating Nicola Marzocchella (39,54%) from civic lists close to the centre-right in the run-off.
Finally, in Grumo Nevano, victory for Umberto Cimmino (PD and three other lists) with 52,12% of the votes, able to prevail over Giuseppe Coppola (civics) who stopped at 47,88%.
