Child at risk of choking on pizza: saved by a health worker present in the pizzeria

Moments of terror erupted at a pizzeria in Sant'Agata de' Goti, Benevento, where a 10-year-old boy nearly choked on a piece of pizza that went down the wrong way.

He was saved by a woman, Pasqualina Ruggiero, a health worker, who with her quick wit and the Heimlich maneuver avoided the worst.

"I was only doing my duty," Mrs. Ruggiero humbly declared, trying to avoid media attention. Her prompt action saved the child's life, who was turning blue and in serious respiratory distress.
