Naples. A prominent Neapolitan lawyer is under investigation for manslaughter and failure to provide assistance in the investigation into the death of Cristina Frazzica, who was struck by a speedboat in the Posillipo area. The accident occurred last Sunday.
The investigation, coordinated by the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office, led to the identification of three boats that were in the area at the time of the incident.
On the basis of testimonies and security camera footage, investigators have reconstructed the dynamics of the'accident and the lawyer was identified as the man who was driving the motorboat that hit the woman.
The lawyer was questioned and gave his version of events. According to him, it was an accident and he didn't realize he'd hit the woman.
The lawyer said he did not notice the accident
The man later stated that he had assisted the victim's partner, who was with her in the kayak at the time of the impact. Vincenzo Leone, also a lawyer, said:
However, investigators are evaluating several hypotheses, including that the lawyer left the scene of the accident after hitting the kayak, perhaps not realizing he had hit the woman, and only later returned to provide assistance.
The investigation is still ongoing and the lawyer's position could worsen if further evidence against him were to emerge.
The woman who died in the accident was 31 years old and originally from the province of Pavia. She was in Naples for study. Her partner, who was with her in the kayak at the time of the impact, survived the accident but was injured.
The young woman's death has sparked deep grief in the community. Many have expressed their solidarity with the victim's family and called for clarity on the incident.
