Benevento, seizure of illegal products that do not comply with safety standards

In recent days, the Guardia di Finanza (Financial Police) of the Benevento Provincial Command conducted a major inspection operation at two businesses in Apollosa and Sant'Agata dei Goti, aimed at combating the sale of counterfeit and unsafe products. The operation resulted in the seizure of numerous items that did not comply with safety standards.

During specific investigations, the financial police of the Lieutenancy of Montesarchio They inspected a 1000-square-meter commercial area in Apollosa, where they found 675 items, including pens, colored pencils, beauty accessories, and clothing, displayed for retail sale. These products lacked the essential requirements set by product safety legislation, a prerequisite for European economic operators to certify compliance with the health and safety requirements set by EU legislation.

In another operation, the Guardia di Finanza (Fiamme Gialle) of Montesarchio conducted an inspection at a perfumery in Sant'Agata dei Goti, where they found 38 packages of Asian-brand perfumes, ready to be marketed in violation of the provisions of Legislative Decree no. 206 of 2005 (Consumer Code).

The products seized in both activities were lacking warnings and instructions for use in Italian, and information regarding the nature of the materials used and the country of origin. This information is required by law to ensure consumers are aware of the quality of the product and its safe use.

The goods were seized and the owners of the commercial activities were reported to the Irpinia-Sannio Chamber of Commerce for violation of the Consumer Code. They were given an administrative fine ranging from a minimum of 516 euros to a maximum of 25.823 euros.
