18-Month-Old Baby Chokes to Death with Bottle Cap

A terrible tragedy has struck a family from the Lido of Venice, as reported by Corriere del Veneto.

Elettra Friselle, just 18 months old, died after swallowing a plastic bottle cap while at home on Friday evening. The sequence of events that led to her death is astonishing and highlights a series of unfortunate circumstances.

Little Elettra was immediately taken to the Lido emergency room, where she suffered a cardiac arrest due to breathing difficulties. Given the seriousness of the situation, the emergency helicopter from Treviso was immediately called for an emergency transfer.

Problems with the Air Rescue

Unfortunately, once landed, thehelicopter rescue coming from Treviso had to remain stationary on the ground due to an engine failure, making it impossible to immediately transfer the child. It was therefore necessary to request a second helicopter rescue, this time from Padua.

In the meantime, the Venetian doctors managed to extract the plastic cap, but Elettra's conditions were now too serious. Even the intervention of the health workers in the pediatric intensive care unit of Padua, where they tried to save her until Saturday morning, failed to change the tragic fate.

The little girl unfortunately died despite the doctors' constant efforts.
