Last night, Green Left MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli, accompanied by journalist Pino Grazioli, carried out a raid on Porta Capuana. The operation led to tensions and threats, once again highlighting the legal problems in the historic area of the city.
The MP stopped outside a bar that was playing loud music past midnight. During the check, Borrelli He was subjected to insults by a man riding a scooter. The man, undocumented, without a helmet, and riding a vehicle under administrative seizure and without insurance, was subsequently stopped by a State Police patrol and taken to the police station for questioning.
The situation escalated when several young men attempted to approach Borrelli and Grazioli, threatening them. The police's prompt intervention prevented further escalation. "We must restore legality to this historic part of the city, where currently only the law of clan violence reigns." Borrelli declared.
Drug dealing occurs at all hours; a bar that serves as a meeting place for a number of convicted criminals plays loud music past midnight. Anyone who dares to rebel is threatened and attacked. All around is decay, with dozens of desperate people camping out among the garbage, filth, and rats. A devastating image of the city, just meters from the central station and the city's most iconic landmarks.
Borrelli added that this situation of chaos and unmanageability is intentionally maintained to facilitate criminal trafficking. However, he assured that, as with Pizzofalcone, San Biagio ai Taffettanari, and the houses occupied by the Camorra, the authorities will intervene decisively and continuously to restore order and security in the area.
