The serious intimidating episode of the night between June 4 and 5 in Pompeii: when a firecracker exploded in front of the technical office of the president of the city council, Giuseppe La Marca, causing damage to the shutter of the premises, has caused much concern.
The incident prompted the prefect of Naples, Michele Di Bari, to convene the provincial committee for public order and safety.
The meeting, held this morning at the Prefecture, was attended by the heads of the police force. The prefect expressed his firm condemnation of the act of intimidation and ordered the intensification of control services on the territory.
“The police are exercising maximum vigilance and are paying particular attention to investigations aimed at identifying those responsible”, said Di Bari. “We will not be intimidated by these cowardly actions and will continue to work to ensure the safety of citizens.”
The committee also expressed its solidarity with the President of the Municipal Council of Pompeii and assured him of maximum collaboration and the necessary support.

“I am deeply saddened by this act of intimidation, but I am not afraid,” the president said. “I will continue to carry out my role with commitment and dedication, at the service of the city and its citizens.”
The investigation into the attack is ongoing by the State Police and the Carabinieri.
Law enforcement is reviewing surveillance camera footage in the area and is gathering testimony from those who were nearby at the time of the explosion.
The goal is to identify those responsible as quickly as possible and bring them to justice.
