Naples. The Court of Appeal of Naples has confirmed the first-degree convictions of Antonio Orlando, alias “Mazzolino,” and Lorenzo Nuvoletta, respectively the head and leading figure of the Orlando clan of Marano.

The two defendants were sentenced to 7 years and 4 months in prison Orlando and 6 years and 4 months Nuvoletta for the crime of aggravated extortion against a building contractor from Giugliano. The charges refer to events that occurred a few years ago in Marano, when the contractor was engaged in demolition and reconstruction work on a building.

The two defendants had already been convicted in the first instance by the investigating judge of Naples as part of an investigation coordinated by the Neapolitan DDA.
During the trial, the entrepreneur who was the victim of extortion was in turn investigated for alleged links with the Mallardo clan of Giugliano, which are the subject of another judicial proceeding still in progress.
Antonio Orlando, nicknamed “Mazzolino”, is considered the undisputed boss of the Orlando clan, active for decades in the Marano area and known for its illicit activities, including extortion, drug trafficking and usury.
Lorenzo Nuvoletta he is the nephew of the late boss of the same name, a historical figure of Marano's organised crime.
The Court of Appeal confirmed the first-instance convictions, considering the charges proven and the punishment appropriate to the gravity of the crimes committed.
The confirmation of the sentences represents a hard blow for the Orlando clan and a sign of strong commitment by the justice system in the fight against organized crime.
