On June 25th and 26th, the Phlegraean Fields will host a large-scale Civil Protection exercise. The aim is to test the response to two simulated events: an earthquake swarm and an increase in ground deformation.
The exercise will involve the municipalities of Naples, Pozzuoli and Bacoli, and will see the participation of various institutions, including the police, the fire brigade, the Campania Region and the subjects involved in rescue activities.
A Relief Coordination Center to manage the emergency.
A Rescue Coordination Center will be activated at the Prefecture of Naples, which will have the task of monitoring the evolution of the simulated event and directing emergency interventions.
Objective: a more effective response to bradyseismic emergencies.
As underlined by the Prefecture of Naples, this exercise, which is part of a wider training activity, has the objective of "making the response of the Civil Protection bodies even more adequate and effective" in the event of bradyseism.
An opportunity to test plans and improve communication.
The exercise will be a valuable opportunity to test the effectiveness of emergency plans, coordination between different institutions and communication with citizens.
Citizens will be informed.
In the coming weeks, officials will provide more details about the exercise and how citizens can follow its progress.
