About a thousand people have been evacuated from their homes in the Phlegraean Fields due to intense seismic activity, with the latest magnitude 3.7 tremor recorded last night. The announcement was made by the Prefect of Naples, Michele Di Bari, during a meeting with journalists.
The evacuations were ordered as a precautionary measure to allow the Municipality to carry out the necessary monitoring and safety measures. The prefect emphasized the government's commitment to supporting the affected population, including by combating illegal construction, which further increases the risk in the event of an earthquake.
Di Bari also confirmed that the evacuation exercise, postponed until the end of May due to a previous seismic swarm, will be held "as soon as possible."
