Naples. A meeting was held today at the Prefecture of Naples to discuss the complex situation of the Roma camp on Via Carrafiello in Giugliano in Campania. The Prefect, Michele di Bari, chaired the table, which was attended by the mayor and other local and regional institutional figures.
Renovation works on the confiscated property in Palmentiello have been completed, where a first group of workers will be moving rom from the camp in Via Carrafiello, beginning its progressive relocation.
The Curia of Giugliano has provided furnishings for the Palmentiello building, while the remainder will be purchased with funds from the Abramo project, financed by the Campania Region.
The initiatives for the education of Roma children will continue, with the collaboration of the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Juvenile Court, the Director of the Regional School Office and the Municipality of Giugliano, within the framework of the Abramo project.
The surveillance and control measures by the police forces have been intensified, with high-impact operations and tight controls by the Army as part of the operation Safe Roads – Land of Fires.
Increased controls to prevent new illegal occupations, combat illegal waste transportation and any other form of illegality.
Collaboration between the different Police Forces, including the Local Police, to ensure more effective control in the camp and the surrounding area.
The Prefectural Table will continue to monitor the situation, with periodic meetings to follow the relocation of the camp and social initiatives to overcome the emergency.
The goal is to find concrete and shared solutions to overcome the emergency of the Giugliano Roma camp, ensuring respect for legality, human rights and dignified living conditions for all residents.
