Casalnuovo, a sports field inaugurated on a former drug dealing square

Casalnuovo. A new soccer and paddle tennis field is being built today in Casalnuovo, in an area that only a few months ago was sadly known as a drug dealing area.

The inauguration, which took place in the presence of civil, religious, and military authorities, represents a symbol of legality and redemption for the local community.

"Today I'm not here for the usual institutional greetings, but to celebrate an extraordinary achievement: the transformation of a place of illegality into a space of gathering and legality," said the Prefect of Naples, Michele Di Bari.

"Law enforcement and government officials have worked together to give this area back to its residents, and this facility is tangible proof of that. Sports have the power to break down barriers and bring people together, and this field will be a hub for the neighborhood's youth."

Il Mayor of CasalnuovoMassimo Pelliccia expressed his satisfaction with the completion of the project: "With the inauguration of this sports field, we are giving a piece of the city back to families and young people.

The Bishop of Acerra, Monsignor Antonio Di Donna, also emphasized the importance of the initiative: "The more spaces we remove from lawlessness and drugs, the better. This is the path we must follow to build a better future for our communities."

Senator Francesco Silvestro delivered a message of hope to the young people present: "Now it's your turn to experience this space and cultivate all the dreams you have for the future."

Magistrate Catello Maresca called the inauguration of the sports field "a true anti-mafia battle won on the ground": "This space was taken away from organized crime to give it back to you guys. Where drugs are sold, only death is sold; by clearing it, a place of life and freedom has been created."
