“Capua Film Fest 2024”. The two-week free open-air cinema returns to the Giardini dello Sperone.
Modugno: “From July 15th to 28th the third edition of the event celebrating Italian cinema”.
The Giardini dello Sperone will host the third edition of the Capua Film Fest, the beautiful event promoted by the Ricciardi Theatre which takes place outside the walls of the historic building of Porta Napoli and which is located in a special and significant place in the city that gave birth to Pier della Vigna and Ettore Fieramosca.
The Capua Sperone bastion, once designed not only for military purposes but also as a true hydrogeological garrison to defend the town, will serve as an open-air theatre for the 2024 edition, pending its restoration by the Capua Speciosa company, the company that manages the Ricciardi.

For the occasion of the film festival, an area of the structure will be dedicated to street food and games for children. Cinema, like literature, painting, music, archaeology or photography, represents one of the many faces of culture; it offers hours of escape and encourages the possibility of flying far away with the imagination; it is therefore right to be able to benefit from events that celebrate its importance and beauty.
“From July 15 to 28, the third edition of the Capua Film Fest, an event that celebrates Italian cinema, says Gianmaria Modugno, administrator of Capua Speciosa. The activity that we are going to carry out will once again have as its protagonist the film festival that will take place under the stars, completely free of charge. An opportunity to remember that watching films is absolutely not a niche activity but one of the ways of creating culture, allowing the viewing of masterpieces of Italian cinema. The Capua Film Fest also offers the opportunity to get to know the wonderful city of Capua, an authentic cultural and architectural treasure of the Campania region”.
The artistic director Francesco Massarelli: The Capua Film Fest was born with the typical festival idea of creating a bridge between spectators, filmmakers, and actors. For this year's edition, the word "Fest" can also be interpreted in the purest sense of "celebration," as the location in the new and unexplored Giardini dello Sperone aims to offer everyone the opportunity to experience moments of conviviality and relaxation. The festival program is still being finalized, but it will undoubtedly follow the exciting trends of the past season, with a particular focus on the "female gaze": female narratives and the works of many talented Italian female directors will give us the opportunity to reflect on pressing social issues. The program will also include space for the ever-prolific French cinema, young filmmakers, cult classics, and children's films.
