Fear in Castellammare di Stabia, in the province of Naples: a water main explodes, homes and beaches evacuated.

Around midday, the Carabinieri intervened in Via Acton. A water pipe managed by the Gori company was damaged for reasons yet to be ascertained.
The homes below and about forty people on the beach were evacuated. Via Acton and a section of the state road 145 to Sorrento were closed. At the moment there are no injuries.
The company staff Gori is on site and is in the process of shutting down the main pipeline; the secondary pipeline will be activated underwater to ensure service. Repair work will follow.
