A Journey Through Art and History in the Villages of Cilento: the Cilentart Fest 31 festival kicks off on Wednesday, July 2024, 2024, now in its fourth edition thanks to the support of the Teatro Pubblico Campano, the Ministry of Culture, and the Campania Region. The project, with Alfredo Balsamo and Vittorio Stasi as artistic directors, will promote art and live performances in the enchanting locations of Cilento.
An International Stage in the Villages of Cilento
National and international artists will enliven the municipalities ofthe Capaccio Paestum, Agropoli, San Giovanni a Piro, Centola, Perito, Moio della Civitella, Omignano and Gioi, transforming them into cultural gathering centers. Spectators will have the opportunity to attend theatrical performances, concerts and choreographies that explore and reinterpret the roots of our culture.
Itinerant Paths and Theatre Workshops
During the festival, it will be possible to wander around the villages and discover paths and stories created specifically for spectators, accompanied by the voices of the places. In addition, theater workshops will be offered by masters of acting, writing, dance and criticism, with the TeC lab curated by the editorial staff of Teatro e Critica.
A Heterogeneous Artistic Program
"We imagined for this edition - underline the directors Alfredo Balsamo and Vittorio Stasi - a truly important artistic program, designed for everyone, where theater meets dance and music approaches the circus, giving particular value to special projects that interact significantly with local communities."The common thread of the event is "knowing the past to understand the future".
Theater: Great Prose Shows
The theater program is rich and varied. Among the various shows, standouts include "Ivan and the Dogs" by Hattie Naylor, starring Federica Rosellini, and "The Marriage of Antigone" by Ascanio Celestini. Additionally, "The Life Ahead" will return, starring Silvio Orlando, winner of the 2022 Le Maschere del Teatro Italiano Award.
Dance and Music: A Bridge between Tradition and Innovation
The sections dedicated to dance and music offer a study of the past to better understand today's society. "Save the Last Dance for Me" by Alessandro Sciarroni and a performance of Ovid's "Metamorphoses" directed by Andrea Baracco are just some of the scheduled shows. Major concerts will also be a key part of the festival, with artists such as Napoleone and Ebbanesis taking center stage.
An Inclusive Project Even for the Little Ones
The Cilentart Fest doesn't forget the younger ones, offering circus shows and theatrical performances of Brothers Grimm fairy tales, such as "Hamelin" by Tonio De Nitto, winner of the 2023 Eolo Prize. The event begins on July 31st, so we can spend another glimpse of summer together, enjoy the wonders of Cilento, and savor its ancient history through the works of all the participating authors. A unique opportunity to rediscover the past and find new insights into the future.
