Naples. An ambulance used for the opening party of a clothing store: this is one of the shocking episodes contained in the 480-page precautionary order signed by Naples investigating judge Federica Coluccio, which reveals the power of the Contini Camorra clan at the San Giovanni Bosco Hospital.
The events date back to March 2023. An ambulance, sirens blaring, speeds down Corso Umberto in Naples, headed for a newly opened store, "Amk." The "guests" of honor disembark: Neapolitan singers and TikTok users, invited to the inauguration.
The incident was documented in all the Naples news outlets and online news sites, as well as by the Green and Left Alliance MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli, who denounced the improper use of an ambulance that, with its sirens blaring, was traveling along Corso Umberto in Naples, stopping at a shop.
The investigation has allowed us to reconstruct the involvement of Gennaro Manetta, 45, known as "Maradona", believed to be a member of the Contini clan who served as cashier and in charge of distributing salaries ("le mesate").
The order reconstructs the contacts between Manetta and Raffaele Colella, sole director of "Amk srl". Colella, accompanied by tiktokers Francesco Ciotola announces the inauguration to Manetta and asks him to rent an ambulance, specifying the reason for the unusual request.
Manetta took steps to appease Colella, contacting Maurizio Scapolatiello, owner of the private ambulance company "Croce San Luca." According to a witness, this was "a private company that isn't part of the hospital and isn't allowed to park inside," but which the Contini clan had supported, "allowing it to park inside the hospital grounds" and "offering support inside the emergency room."
The ambulance episode is just the tip of the iceberg. The indictment details a veritable system of infiltration and favors within the hospital, with the Contini clan exploiting the ambulances for their own illicit interests, creating a climate of fear and subjugation.
In addition to the wiretaps, which were crucial to the investigation, the timely revelations of numerous informants, some of whom were members of the Contini clan itself, were also crucial.
