Music and air travel transcend borders and unite cultures: this is the spirit with which, once again this year, the Italian Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) is supporting the 2024 International Music Festival.
In collaboration with the trade associations Assaeroporti and Aeroporti 2030, as well as airport operators, the initiative aims to strengthen the connection between music and air travel. On June 21, 14 Italian airports will be transformed into stages for numerous musical performances, aimed at both passengers and the vast community of airport workers.
A Varied Program
The day's musical repertoire will be varied and broad, encompassing genres from classical to jazz, opera to soundtracks, pop to rock, country to reggae, and even folk and singer-songwriter music. The list of scheduled events and performances will be available through the ENAC and airport management companies' information and social media channels.
The Airports Involved
The airports of Alghero, Bergamo, Cagliari, Catania, Cuneo, Milan Malpensa, Naples, Olbia, Pescara, Turin, Trapani, and Trieste, which are members of Assaeroporti, have joined the initiative. Rome Fiumicino and Venice airports, which are members of Airports 2030, will also participate. These airports, becoming stages for a day, will offer a different and engaging experience for both travelers and airport employees.
An Immaterial Bridge between Cultures
According to ENAC President Pierluigi Di Palma, both air travel and music represent an intangible bridge between different cultures and peoples. "The Music Festival is a precious collective experience that unites artists and audiences, even in airports, places of interconnection and integration par excellence," Di Palma commented.
Thanks and Best Wishes
ENAC Director General Alessio Quaranta expressed his gratitude to all the organizers and artists participating in the event, as well as to the airport workers who work daily to ensure the efficiency and safety of the sector. "Thanks to the organizers who involved us, to the artists who will perform, and to the airport workers. Happy Holidays, of course, also to travelers, who are aware of the universal and vital message of music and travel." Quaranta said. This day of celebration will therefore be a moment of celebration and unity, demonstrating once again how music can become a universal language, capable of uniting people and different cultures, even in places of passage such as airports.
