Naples, Coop Service workers protest

Naples. Health sector workers who belong to the Base union are protesting.

On Monday, June 17, at 12 noon, all contracted workers from ASL NA 1 and Santobono-Pausilipon Hospital will gather in front of the COOP SERVICE headquarters in the Naples Business District.

"Enough negligence! For months we have been reporting to ASL NA 1 serious deficiencies that put the health and safety of logistics workers at risk," reads a protest flyer announcing the demonstration.

And then they list the critical points.

Lack of adequate PPE: suitable personal protective equipment is not provided to protect workers from the risks associated with their duties.
Non-existent changing rooms: at the end of the shift, workers are forced to change in unsuitable environments, exposing themselves to health and hygiene risks.
Unusable showers: the inability to wash properly after work increases the risk of infections and occupational diseases.
First aid kit missingThe lack of basic medical care in the departments exposes workers to serious dangers in the event of accidents or illnesses.

These are just some of the shameful shortcomings that occur daily in Campania's public healthcare facilities. The Local Health Authority, instead of setting an example in hygiene and public health, demonstrates culpable negligence towards its own workers.
