A new appointment with contemporary literature is scheduled at the Teatro Karol in Castellammare di Stabia next Tuesday 2 July 2024 starting at 19 pm: the writer Maurizio de Giovanni presents his latest novel “Pioggia per i Bastardi di Pizzofalcone” published by Einaudi.
Closing event with Pierluigi Fiorenza and Federica Citarella
The meeting, hosted by Pierluigi Fiorenza, is the last of the Casa del Contemporaneo's "Platealmente, dal libro alla scena - incontri con gli autori" (Plateally, from book to stage - meetings with authors) series this season. Actress Federica Citarella will perform a reading of excerpts from the novel.
The Bastards of Pizzofalcone Face New Challenges
The Bastards of Pizzofalcone are still burdened by the prejudices of a lifetime ago: corruption, violence, and lack of professionalism. In short, there's never any peace for these police officers, especially in Maurizio de Giovanni's new novel, in which they must solve the brutal murder of a barrister. What's more, nature itself is ruthless against them, with a heavy, pouring rain. - Fiorenza himself reports in a note - “For me the happiness of interviewing one of my favorite writers who has always maintained a privileged relationship with the city of Castellammare di Stabia which I am sure will know how to welcome him once again with deep affection and sincere esteem, applauding him and being moved by his words”.
A Complex Case for the Bastards of Pizzofalcone
A murder that appears to have no motive and that puts the Bastards to the test once again. Leonida Brancato had been an unbeatable criminal lawyer. The king of quibbles, they called him. When he retired, the prosecutor's office celebrated. Nothing had been heard of him for years, but now someone has killed him and has raged over his corpse. Under a downpour that gives no respite, surrounded by enemies and despite painful personal problems, the formidable police officers of the Pizzofalcone police station will extricate themselves from secrets, hypocrisies, and grudges. Arriving to discover a more unexpected truth than ever.

The evening is free to enter until all seats are taken and is supported by the collaboration of the Mondadori Bookstore, available on site with a sales point for the novel.
Also currently on display in the Art Space in the TK foyer is Giuseppe Plaitano's exhibition "Piazze," which is open to the public free of charge during box office hours: Tuesdays and Saturdays (17-19 pm) and Thursdays (10 am-12 pm). These evocative fragments recount the customs and daily life of bygone days in those mundane places, the "Piazze." A selection of period images of Castellammare di Stabia—from the late 800th century to the 50s—taken from the Giuseppe Plaitano Historical Archive, under the tutelage of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities.
