The President of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca, has announced his participation in the Naples Pride, scheduled for June 29. The news was released through an official press release from the organizers of the event, which expresses great enthusiasm for the presence of the president.
The president, who has always recognized the value of Pride through the granting of moral patronage by the Campania Region, will participate in the Pride march for the first time and will be at the head of the march alongside the organizers and other institutions., the statement reads. De Luca will be accompanied by Councilor Lucia Fortini, known for her commitment to defending the civil rights of LGBTQIA+ people. Regional Council Vice President Loredana Raia has also confirmed her attendance.

"President De Luca's participation makes our Pride even stronger," says Antonello Sannino of the organizing committee of Napoli Pride. While the Lombardy Region denies sponsorship to the Pride, a strong message is coming from southern Italy's largest region, Naples, to the entire country. Joining us at the Pride will be the mayor of Naples and the Metropolitan City, Gaetano Manfredi, and many other mayors from the region.
Sannino recalls the presence of De Luca, then mayor of Salerno, at Pride Park in 2012, emphasizing how the president and councilor Fortini's participation in this year's event represents a sign of support from democratic institutions in the area. "If the revolution cannot be more general, but starts from the territories, with the territories," Sannino quotes the great Luciana Castellina, "Once again, Naples and Campania become a bastion of resistance and a land of revolution.
