Nel corso della seconda giornata del Festival della Serie A a Parma, Luigi De Siervo, amministratore delegato della Lega di Serie A, ha lanciato un allarme sul futuro degli stadiums Italian.
“If our stadiums are not adapted by the deadline of October 2026, we risk that part of Euro 2032 that has been assigned to us be withdrawn,” De Siervo declared.
De Siervo underlined the crucial importance of the challenge linked to the stadiums. “The challenge of the stadiums is one that we cannot afford to lose,” he stated firmly. "We are at the last call, in view of the d-day of October 2026, the deadline by which UEFA will carry out checks on our stadiums. If we do not demonstrate that we have adapted the facilities, that part of the 2032 European Championship that has been assigned to us will be withdrawn."
The CEO avoided assigning blame, but stressed the urgency of collective and coordinated action. “At this time we do not want to attribute blame, but we must demonstrate that we are a compact system, finding economic resources and taking on the responsibilities that are ours. Infrastructure cannot be built only for large events, but must always be done methodically.”
Another critical point raised by De Siervo concerns Serie B teams, who often do not invest adequately in their stadiums. “Many Serie B teams do not invest in their own stadiums, perhaps also for superstitious reasons, creating problems when they go up to Serie A. These teams find themselves having to play the first games of the championship in other facilities, having to adapt their own from an infrastructural point of view.”
