The incident occurred on the way back from a joint demonstration in defense of the Constitution in Piazza Santi Apostoli. The victims, accompanied by some activist friends, were surrounded and attacked from behind by attackers who shouted: "Come here and act crazy".

Kicks, punches and insults: one of the boys was even kicked to the ground. The threats did not stop even after the beating: "Get off this f...king phone", the attackers ordered, snatching the cell phone away from one of the young men who was trying to film the scene.

The shocking videoThe footage of the attack, filmed by the student himself with his cell phone before it was taken away, was handed over to the State Police. Thanks to the footage and witness statements, DIGOS investigators quickly identified the perpetrators: militants fromthe Casapound already known to the police for specific precedents.

Stopped and identified: one of the attackers had already been identified shortly after the fact by the Flying Squad officers, while the others were tracked down thanks to the descriptions provided by the victims. The young people, savagely beaten, had to seek medical attention.

Outrage and condemnation: The Mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri expressed his firm condemnation for the incident, underlining that "Rome does not accept any form of violence" and that the city "will continue to be free and open."

Disturbing sign of intolerance and political violence

An act of squadrism: The attack was defined as "neo-fascist squadrism" by the Mayor, who underlined the cowardice of those who attack defenseless youths. "These criminals," Gualtieri concluded, "will not intimidate the city and will pay for their actions."

Solidarity with the victims: the network of democratic activism and associations expressed their solidarity with the two attacked students, promising not to give in to intimidation and to continue to mobilize for a free and anti-fascist Rome.

The Colle Oppio incident is a new, disturbing sign of intolerance and political violence. It's a warning to institutions and all citizens to remain vigilant and firmly oppose all forms of extremism and oppression.
