Following Marcus Thuram's words, Kylian Mbappé also wanted to send a strong message from the French national team's training camp at Euro 2024, in view of the upcoming French elections. "I want to address all French people, especially the younger generations. We see that extremists are at the doorstep of power; we have the chance to change everything.", declared the former Paris Saint-Germain striker, ready to wear the Real Madrid shirt next season.

"We are at a crucial moment in the country's history," he continued Mbappé. "We need to know how to fix things and prioritize. We are citizens first and foremost; we must not be disconnected from the world. We find ourselves in an unprecedented situation." The French national team star, who will take to the field tomorrow against Austria, expressed his hope that his message would reach as many people as possible: "We must identify with the values of tolerance, respect, and diversity. Every voice counts. I hope we make the right choice and will be proud to wear this jersey again on July 7th, the day after the elections."

Mbappé also said he fully shares Thuram's thoughts: "I'm with him; we live in a country where freedom of expression reigns. He expressed his opinion, and I'm on his side." Concluding, the striker underlined the importance of the match against Austria, but acknowledged that the political situation is even more relevant: "Of course, tomorrow's match is very important, but there's an even more important situation. However, that hasn't stopped us from preparing well for tomorrow's match. It's a different situation, but we're great players and we have to adapt."
