Figliolia was arrested on February 14th as part of the investigation into Rione Terra. He was accused of corruption, bid-rigging and illicit influence peddling. Together with him, the Pozzuoli businessman Salvatore Musella and the former national leader of the Democratic Party, Nicola Oddati, were arrested.
The three will still have to face two trials. The first, with immediate judgment, will begin on October 3. Figliolia, Musella and Oddati are accused of crimes for which precautionary measures were triggered.
Figliolia's trial begins on June 27
The second trial, however, will begin on June 27 and will see Figliolia accused along with all the others involved in the judicial affair for the crimes not contemplated in the precautionary custody order.
On that occasion the investigating judge will have to rule on the request made by public prosecutors Stefano Capuano and Immacolata Sica regarding the crime of criminal association.
The investigation into Rione Terra is still ongoing. Neapolitan magistrates are trying to shed light on an alleged corruption scheme that would have involved the management of contracts for the redevelopment of Rione Terra, a historic area of Pozzuoli.
