Salerno. Two alleged burglars were arrested today in Salerno by State Police as they left an apartment they had just burgled.
The two men, already known to law enforcement, were intercepted by the Flying Squad following a police operation to prevent burglaries.
As explained by Salerno Police Chief Giancarlo Conticchio, the operation was planned based on careful investigative activity.
The patrol cars were deployed in one area of the city, leaving free the one that, according to the information gathered, was most at risk of thefts.
The strategy paid off: the two criminals were spotted by the officers as they left the apartment with the stolen goods, which included watches and jewelry.
Bulgarian keys and other sophisticated tools
During the arrest, the police also seized two Bulgarian keys, used to break into armored doors, and a flex.

"The peculiarity," Conticchio emphasized, "is that we found sophisticated tools, which demonstrate a certain level of preparation on the part of the criminals."
Investigations underway and invitation to citizens
Investigations are ongoing to determine whether the two arrested are also responsible for other apartment burglaries.
The Police Chief has invited citizens who have suffered a theft to go to the Police Headquarters to view the photo album of the suspects and to report the presence of suspicious people in their neighborhoods.
A commitment to the safety of citizens
"The arrest of these two criminals is an important sign of our commitment to citizen safety, particularly in combating burglaries," Conticchio concluded.
Today's operation demonstrates the effectiveness of the prevention and repression strategies implemented by the State Police to ensure the safety of citizens.
