The Carabinieri of Battipaglia, by order of the Salerno Prosecutor's Office, arrested 7 people of Indian nationality accused of serious crimes against a young compatriot, owner of several barber shops in Battipaglia and other Italian cities.
The investigation, which lasted for months, revealed that the suspects, using threats and violence, attempted to extort money from the victim in exchange for "protection."

The man, who reported the extortion demands, was the victim of repeated intimidating behavior that forced him to change his lifestyle.

In addition to extortion, the suspects are accused of aggravated robbery, private violence, and aggravated personal injury against two other compatriots close to the main victim. On one occasion, one of the two men was robbed of his backpack, while the other was attacked and injured with an iron bar.
The Carabinieri found baseball bats, wooden sticks and steel knuckledusters in the possession of the arrested men.
The precautionary measures were ordered due to the risk of repetition of the crimes and tampering with evidence.
The investigations continue to ascertain any accomplices and to reconstruct in detail the criminal conduct of the suspects.
