# It is a universal story, a long love story that does not contemplate distances, that erases the missed, the forgotten and the ignored. That refuses the paradox, that does not stop to wait and runs towards the other, towards those who have lost the meaning of their journey.

From July 19 to 28, the illusion of distance will be the starting point of Giffoni, expressed in all its forms, in every space. An urgent theme for the over 5 jurors from over 30 countries around the world, chosen to indicate the dangers of the sense of isolation that creeps into the lives of new generations with the fear of the other, of the different, of the distant, with the deception of feeling separate. An invitation to rediscover the paths, to discover the invisible bonds that exist, despite the apparent divisions to invent new ones, to reveal how incredibly close we are, inextricably united. So, how close are we? The image that will accompany and enhance the illusion of distance is a triumph of sensations, lines, colors, places crossed and imagined places.

A perfect connection of art, that lets itself be caressed and completed: it is the result of a value that becomes absolute, different souls but never distant that talk to each other and tell, look, feel. Two silhouettes without gender and ethnicity, suspended in a dreamlike field outside of space and time, an ideal non-place where everyone can find themselves and that everyone can imagine: this is the main characteristic of the image of #Giffoni54, created by the union of ideas, creativity and sensitivity of a collective of eleven artists - composed of Bianca Costanzo, Chiara Ferrante, Diana De Stefano, Elisa Patafio, Emma Graziani, Giulia Minella, Giusy Lambiasi, Leandro Forte, Marica Mastromarino, Simone Castelluccio, Venera Leone - who, from 16 to 20 April, was the guest of the first edition of Giffoni Shock!, a revolution in artistic expression, a portal to the future, a refuge for dreamers and a springboard for talents.

The manifesto tells the simple story of people who drift apart, often ignore each other, forget, separate, but in the depths of the dark earth, as immense as the sky, as vast as the ocean, they understand how their roots are inextricably linked. Although the directions taken are often opposite, even contrasting, although each path potentially has new implications, despite the miles of indifference, conflicts, misunderstandings and misconceptions, the connection is inevitable. And this is the message that Giffoni is preparing to share, exalt, and disseminate.

The Giffoni artistic collective is a residential laboratory composed of artists from all over Italy. A platform that involves new generations in collaborative artistic activities within a center of creativity and cultural transformation. Painters, illustrators, photographers, actors, musicians and composers, writers and digital artists have come together, and will continue to engage during the Festival, to create artistic productions aimed at telling the themes and activities of Giffoni with an original language. An interdisciplinary dialogue that favors new creative paths, therefore, transcending traditional artistic boundaries.

The chosen theme is also very current: “I would like to highlight one aspect, in particular, of our beautiful and complex new image dedicated to “The Illusion of Distance” – clarifies the artistic director Luca Apolito – Those roots that refer to a secret of the trees that we, perhaps, have forgotten. Apparently isolated on the surface, they are united by an underground network of roots. This system allows them to communicate, exchange resources, offer mutual support, an ecosystem of cooperation that challenges our perception of separate individuality in the natural world. Similarly, we are all connected by invisible networks of history, traditions, experiences, languages and beliefs. These cultural roots of ours, although not visible, are just as real and vital. But just as the roots of plants communicate with each other even if they belong to different species, our cultural roots communicate and have communicated in the past even if they belong to different cultures. The illusion is in perceiving our cultures and histories as separate and distant, while they are intertwined”.

“Through experimentation, in this model of collaborative activity, the artistic collective allows people to communicate, connect and grow together. In times of social change and cultural revolution, art and creativity play a fundamental role – explains the general manager Jacopo Gubitosi – They fuel the imagination, tell transformations and generate energy essential to positive evolutions. The artistic collective focuses its mission on connecting the daily lives of new generations, thus triggering a global impact, in the spirit of what has always been Giffoni's mission. From cinema to literature, from to advertising graphics, crossing all the languages of the new media, aims to weave a new artistic-professional narrative, connecting distant lives and cultivating the beauty and values of society in the most unexpected places. Once again, therefore, Giffoni proposes itself as a precious showcase for the new generations”.
