The Camorra war between the Scognamiglio and Pecorelli-Cato groups for control of the illicit activities of the dissolved Lo Russo clan (to which they all once belonged) was put to rest after years of investigation by yesterday's raid ordered by the Naples Anti-Mafia Directorate, resulting in 19 arrests and seven other people being investigated.

The investigations, coordinated by the Anti-Mafia Prosecutor's Office and conducted by the Naples Flying Squad, the Scampia Police Station and the Carabinieri of the Vomero Company, have shed light on a series of murders and illicit activities linked to drug trafficking, linked to the fight for control of the illicit activities of the dissolved Lo Russo clan, of which both groups were part in the past.

Two deaths and an attempted murder

During the feud, two people were killed: Salvatore Milano, known as “Totore 'o Milan”, and Antonio Avolio. The latter was not the real target: the hitmen wanted to kill Oscar Pecorelli “'o pastore”, but failing in their intent, they acted on one of his associates.

Investigations and arrests

The operation, dubbed "Blu Blitz ," was carried out at dawn yesterday. Law enforcement arrested the 19 suspects in Naples, Anzio, and Perugia. The charges include murder, attempted murder, mafia association, drug trafficking, and illegal possession of weapons.

The Murder of Salvatore Milano

On April 22, 2021, Salvatore Milano, known as “Totore 'o Milan” , was drinking a coffee in a bar in Milan when, as stated in the 344-page precautionary order, Carlo Perfetto reported his presence to armed associates stationed nearby.

Shortly thereafter, Giovanni Scognamiglio and Fabio Pecoraro entered the club and opened fire on Milano, a member of the Lo Russo clan and on good terms with the Pecorelli-Catone family. Salvatore Ronga and Bernardo Torino are also under investigation for the murder. The perpetrators are also charged with carrying and possessing a firearm.

The Murder of Antonio Avolio

On June 24, 2021, Antonio Avolio was riding his scooter cautiously. He didn't become suspicious when he approached Luca Isaia and didn't have time to attempt an escape. He was struck in the head and died instantly, falling heavily from the vehicle.

In addition to the alleged hitman, Emmanuele Palmieri , Fabio Pecoraro, Salvatore Ronga, and Pasquale, Antonio and Giovanni Scognamiglio , father and sons, are accused of the ambush .

Before the crime, there was a summit during which the desire to kill Pecorelli “'o pastore” (cousin of the prison boss of the same name known as “'o malommo”, who however is not involved in the affair) emerged.

The recipients of the precautionary measure were arrested in Naples, except Catone, captured in Anzio, and Francesco Abenante, arrested in Perugia by the Catturandi police.
